My network was supposed to be repaired after an uninstall of Sharepoint. DHCP was reinstalled, yet when I need to reimage networked pc’s I can’t because TFTP becomes an opion before F12 boot from Network or “LAN”. How can I FIX THIS? HELP PLEASE AND THANKYOU!

Chosen Answer:

Not sure I understand your problem but TFTP is used along with DHCP to provide network boot service. This is called PXE (Pre-eXecution Environment) boot. Pronounced “pixie boot”. That means if you are trying to reimage a machine using pxe boot, then it should be trying tftp after getting the address using dhcp. If this is not happening, then something is wrong with your pxe boot environment. I’d check to make sure the dhcp server is set up to send a boot server address and that your tftp server has boot files for the mac address of the machine you are trying to image.

If you hadn’t mentioned “reimage networked pc’s” I would have thought you were actually trying to boot from local hard disk and then using dhcp to get an IP address. If this were the case, then the network boot is irrelevant. You can disable network boot in the bios completely or just wait until the network boot fails and goes to harddisk. You can also go into your bios and change the boot order to try local disk before network.
